These revolutionary veneer testers allow you to measure density, moisture content, and modulus of elasticity (E) simultaneously, in every sheet of veneer, with unsurpassed accuracy and speed.
The Models 2805 DME grade veneer for structural applications. Ultrasonic, infrared, and radio frequency technologies collect and process data for each veneer sheet. Measured values for moisture content, temperature, Ultrasonic Propagation Time (UPT), width, and specific gravity are combined to characterize and sort veneer to mill standards. Software algorithms process signals from the ultrasonic transducer wheels. Ultrasonic Propagation Time (UPT) is derived from this signal path. The electronics system also generates signals for the radio frequency resonator cavity pairs. Five resonator pairs are standard, but up to six pairs can be mounted in the veneer tester, depending on the customer’s conveyor belt arrangement.
A shaft encoder measures veneer width and line speed, while temperature is measured by a highspeed infrared thermometer. Average UPT, compensated for temperature, and signal responses from the resonator cavities are analyzed to determine the specific gravity, density, and moisture content. All of these properties’ values are displayed immediately on the monitor. Veneer grade determined from various programmed combinations of the measured properties. The grade is marked on each sheet by spray nozzles for up to eight grades. An RS232 serial port and remote monitor port are provided to aid your quality control staff. Models 2655 DFX and 2700 VITKA can be upgraded to a Model 2805 DME.

The machine frame disassembles for ease of installation, eliminating the need for cutting the conveyor flights. Conveyor dimensions including height, number of belts, width of flights, and position of veneer on belts, should be specified at time of order so your machine can be built to fit your conveyor line. If not specified, your 2805 DME will be assembled using a standard arrangement.
